During the American Revolution the rattlesnake was a symbol of rebellion against colonial British rule. In 1751 Benjamin Franklin published an article depicting a drawing of a snake cut into eight pieces with the slogan “Join or Die.” The illustration spoke to the importance of unity and strength among the colonies. Years later in 1775, General Christopher Gadsden designed the Gadsden flag with the moniker “Don’t Tread on Me.” The flag was flown by the Continental Marines and also became a prominent naval maritime flag known as the First Navy Jack.
From its inception, the emblem has served as a proud and enduring symbol of American Freedom. With the standard held high, these iconic flags bolster and inspire a spirit of courage and strength. The ensign is a stark reminder that Americans will stand firmly in defense, never surrender, and continue to honor a history of defiance. We are proud to present the exclusive Don’t Tread on Me Pistols.
